Gift 1937 i Bruxelles med Hjørdis Jørgensen, f. 1909 på Nøtterøy. Middelskole, styrmanns-, skipper- og radioskole. Var styrmann på m/s Besholt. Da skipet var på reise mellom Lobito og Trinidad, ble det torpedert 2. desember 1942. Han var kommet i en livbåt, men gikk ombord igjen for å forsøke å redde kapteinen og en passasjer, og gikk da ned med skipet.
