Statement of Alfred Andersen ... Chief Engineer.

We left Savannah on the fifth day of January 1942 with a cargo of lumber and . proceeded to Arntia, Newfoundland. We were seven days out and about two hundred and twenty miles off the coast of Halifax. It was about 6:20 P.M. when the first thing we knew an explosion occurred on our ship; it must have been a torpedo. One man was killed. A second torpedo was fired and three men were killed, we did not see the ship that fired the torpedo. We knew the ship was in a bad condition so we got aboard our lifeboat, there were six men in our boat, and nine men in the other lifeboat. We cannot say what happened to them. We were about one hundred miles from Sydney after being in the lifeboat for about forty four hours, when we were picked up by a small fishing schooner. We were landed at North Sydney and then proceeded to Sydney. We were forstbitten.

That is all I know of the loss of the S.S. "FRISCO".
