"9th April 1940. When the Germans attacked Norway JENSEN was in Narvik, staying with his married sister Aagot at 46, Tore Hundsgate, and he remained in the town during the attack by the Allied Forces. After the Allied capture of Narvik, towards the end of May 1940, the civilian population were evacuated owing to enemy air-raids and JENSEN was sent to Bø, Vesteraalen, where he stayed with his sister until September 1940, when they returned to Narvik.

September 1940 - June 1942. Shortly after, JENSEN got a job unloading coal at Narvik station and was thus employed for about three months. He then worked on the construction of barracks for the German occupation forces and in May 1941, JENSEN, who was now out of work, applied to the contractors VISTER of Oslo who were engaged in the construction of a road between Narvik and Bjørnfjell, and JENSEN worked as a labourer until November 1941, when snow conditions made it necessary to close down for the winter.

Some weeks later, JENSEN called at the labour exchange in Narvik to seek employment and there it was discovered that he had been a seaman before the War. according to him, he was forced to sign on as an ordinary seaman on the S/S. "VØRINGEN", of the H.S. S/S/. Company of Bergen, this ship being used by the Germans as a troop ship.

JENSEN made several journeys on the above vessel between Narvik and Tromsø transporting troops and German War material. In March 1942, Jensen was discharged as the captain preferred to man he ship with a crew from his native town of Bergen."
