Fra Bokverket "Evig heder skal de ha". Bjørn K. Sagdahl:
Født i Bodin 16.desember 1918. Han begynte å seile i 1943 som maskinist på M/S MODER II, en erstatningshurtigrute på strekningen Tromsø til Vardø.
Dette var fartøy som ofte var utsatt for angrep, særlig fra allierte fly. Men M/S MODER II ble i februar 1943 bordet av to russiske hurtigbåter og satt i brann utenfor Kibergness. Mannskapet og passasjerene varda tatt ombord og ble landet i Murmansk. Tor hadde blitt avløst av broren, Sigurd, to uker tidligere og Sigurd kunne først returnere etter Kirkenes var befridd. Alle unntatt Hans Meier som var supercargo ombord, ble returnert. Han gikk bort den 19.11.1995.
