Var 1. styrmann på ds "Vesta" av Bergen da skipet ble bombet i Korsfjorden i oktober 1940.
Var også 1. styrmann på "Mira" da hun ble senket i Vestfjorden 4. mars 1941. Sjømann ble her skadet
og lå på sykehus i Bergen i 3 måneder.
