Var på DS Haugarland da skipet ble flyangrepet (skadet) 25. april 1941.
Stokland var om bord skipet en ekstra dag sammen med noen andre av mannskapet for å forsøke å redde skipet, men det var ikke mulig og de forlot skipet. Det sank 11. juni 1942.
