Snekkerkurs og filetskjærerkurs. Under krigen 1940 var han med som frivillig i et militært vaktkompani. Etter at kampene var slutt, reiste han som lemper med d/s Ariadne på vei til England. Omkom da skipet ble senket av tyskerne den 9. juni 1940.
