KVILHAUG, THORVALD, styrmann, Stavanger. Født 19. februar 1908 i Stavanger, s. av Ole Kvilhaug, f. 1878 i Stavanger, d. 1934 s. st., og Josefine f. Sandsmark, f. 1879 s. st. Middelskole, elementærteknisk skole, skoleskipskurs, radiotelegrafistskole, styrmanns og skipperskole. Var 1. styrmann på d/s Belize fra høsten 1939, og seilte under krigen i alliert fart på samme skip. 4. desember 1941 gikk skipet fra New York og forsvant på vei til St. John N.B. En livbåt ble funnet med 4 døde sjøfolk ombord.
