Var fisker til han 1939 reiste på ungdomsskole og derfra til sjøs. Var fyrbøter på s/s Bennestvet, og omkom da skipet ble torpedert i Vest-India 15. juni 1942. Båten var da på vei fra New Orleans til Cristobal.
