M/S Breñas ble torpedert på reise fra Maranhão til New York. En brasiliansk messegutt omkom. Kapteinen Oscar Kløcker ble tatt til fange i ubåten. Han ble senere satt i land i Frankrike som krigsfange og etter opphold i leirer der og i Tyskland ble han repatriert til Norge.
