Gift 1929 i Trondheim med Gunvor Hovde, f. 1896 i Kristiansund. 2 barn. Maskinistskole, teknisk mellomskole, drev selvstudium i radioteknikk. Var maskinist på m/t Davanger og omkom da skipet ble torpedert i Atlanterhavet 11. oktober 1940 på vei fra Curacao via Halifax til britisk havn.
