Harry Pettersen var i norsk marine i 6 måneder i 1924-1925.
Var på hvalfangst sesongen 1939-1940 påmønstret hvalkokeri D/S TAFELBERG/hvalbåt CEDARBERG.
Etter torpedering med M/T EIDANGER, mønstret han av 26. mars 1942 i Halifax N.S. Han ble skadet i torpederingen, men etter sykehusopphold mønstret han på M/T FENJA 23. juli 1942 og fortsatte i konvoyfarten fram til krigens slutt.
Reiste hjem til Norge med D/S STAVANGERFJORD høsten 1945.
