Gift 1916 i Trondheim med Othilie f. Jenssen, f. 1893 i Bergen. 4 barn. Skoleskipskurs, styrmanns- og skipperskole. Var i flere år fører av d/s Hvoslef. Omkom 11. mars 1942 da båten ble torpedert to n. mil øst for Fenwicks Island, på vei fra Cuba til Boston. Gravsatt på Havstein kirkegård.
