Var før krigen verkstedarbeider og steinarbeider. Reiste ut som maskingutt med «Polarsol» den 8. desember 1939. Gjennomgikk maskinistskole i London 1941 og var 3. maskinist på d/s Ila. Da båten ble torpedert i Nord-Atlanteren 15. oktober 1941, ble han så hardt såret at han døde straks etter. Av båtens besetning, 21 mann, omkom 14.
