Middelskole, styrmanns og skipperskole. Gift i Larvik 1938 med Signe Karoline f. Arvesen, f. 1912 i Larvik. Var ute på hvalfangst til krigens utbrudd, under krigen tredjestyrmann på d/s Kosmos II, og omkom da skipet ble torpedert av tysk u-båt 29. oktober 1942, på reise fra New York til Clyde.
