Middelskole, to-årig handelsskole, styrmannsskole. Gikk høsten 1937 ut med m/t Nina Borthen som 3. styrmann, avanserte til 1. styrmann. Båten forsvant i oktober 1940 på vei fra Milford Haven til Table Bay. Krigsmedaljen post mortem.
