"Ravnaas" ble angrepet og senket av japanske fly utenfor Samar, Phillippinene 10.12.1941.
Mannskapet reddet seg i livbåter og tok seg inn til Samar hvor de ble internert i krigsfangeleir av japanerne i Cebu.
De ble frigitt i februar 1945 og reiste med B".C.Express" fra Manila til Hollandia, New Guinea den 26.3.1945, Ankom New York 15.mai 1945. Mønstret på "John Bakke" som hjelpemann og kom til Oslo 25.august 1945.

Infomation about medals will therefore be registered gradually and be based on different source materials. The war sailors were awarded medals both during and after the war.
