Var på M/S SØRVARD da krigen brøt ut, og skipet ble internert i Dakar. Rømte sammen med fem kamerater i en livbåt og kom til Vestindia, senere til England. Ble forhyrt med M/T SANDAR, og omkom 2. mai 1942 da skipet ble torpedert ved Trinidad, på reise til Gibraltar. Broren Lorents ble henrettet 1942.
