«Gift 1929 i Oslo med Astrid Hansen, f. 1903 i Horten. 3 barn. Middelskole, marinens minevesens befalsskole, kurs for radiotelegrafister. Tjenestegjorde i 1939–40 som spesialoffiser i marinen, reiste til Sverige høsten 1941. Var 1. radiotelegrafist på d/s Skytteren. Da skipet ble angrepet av tyske fly i Skagerak, senket besetningen skipet 1. april 1942, og ble tatt til fange. Otto Bruness ble dømt til 8 års tukthus og døde i tukthuset i Sonnenburg i mars 1944. Gravlagt der».
