Grundt var med som ekstramann på Kvarstadbåten, hvalkokeri D/S "Skytteren" som ble senket av eget mannskap etter trefning med tyske armerte trålere. Mannskapet ble tatt til fange og sendt til leirene Milag og Marlag Nord. Grundt ble overført til andre tyske fangeleire som N.N. fange. Kom til Sverige 21.4.1945 fra Neuengamme. Til Norge 28.5.1945.
