M/T Storstad ble i 1940 : Kapret i det indiske hav 07/10 av den tyske kaperen PINGUIN i posisjon 15.07S, 107.50E mens hun var på reise fra Miri, Borneo til Melbourne, Australia med ca 12.000 tonn diesel-olje. Etter kapringen ble hun omdøpt til PASSAT og brukt som minelegger og bunkersskip for andre tyske kapere. Overtatt av Die Deutsche
Kriegsmarine og sendt til Frankrike. Underveis leverte hun olje til flere tyske marinefartøyer.
1941 : Ankom innløpet til Gironde, Frankrike 04/02, deretter brukt som oljeforsyningsskip.
