Gift 1935 i Bergen med Signe Kesia Kvamme, f. 1910 i Alversund. 1 barn. Middelskole, militærutdannelse i USA, hvor han ble kavalerisersjant. Seilte under krigen som 2. maskinist på d/s Svein Jarl. Skipet gikk fra Oban 19. februar 1941 og forsvant på vei til Halifax.
