M/S Talabot ble senket av fly i Valetta 27.3.1942. Avmønstret i Liverpool 26.3.1942.
Etter avmønstringen av M/S Olaf Fostenes 10.9.1942 gikk han maskinistskole og arbeidet deretter i land for å få nødvendig verkstedpraksis til maskinistsertifikat. Kom hjem fra UK med M/S Bretagne i august 1946 og reiste i oktober 1946 for å avløse maskinister der.
