Arbeidet hjemme på farsgården til han reiste til sjøs 1939. Seilte i alliert fart på M/T PETTER og D/S GREY COUNTY. Ble syk i juli 1942 og døde på Royal Hospital i Montreal 6. april 1943. Gravlagt i Montreal. Broren Halvor omkom 1942.
