Seilte i alliert tjeneste og ble torpedert tre ganger under krigen. Var motormann på m/s Thelma, som ble torpedert i Vest-India 26. august 1942. Ble reddet i land og lagt inn på sykehus i Barbados, hvor han døde 22. oktober 1942. Gravlagt på Barbados.
