Døde 27. mai 1944 på det norske hospital i Skottland.
Våre Falne:
ABELSEN, GUDMUND, styrmann, Odda. Født 28. april 1911 i Odda, s. av Alb. M. Abelsen, f. 1874, og hustru Sina, f. 1878, begge i Bergen. Var utdannet som styrmann og telegrafist. Var på d/s Thyra som ble pårent av et større skip og senket 27. mai 1941. Tre mann av besetningen omkom da. Var senere forhyrt med engelsk d/s Iron Baron, hvor han pådro seg sykdom, ble innlagt på marinens sykehus i Barnton 12 mai og døde der 27. mai 1944. Gravlagt i Odda.
