Født 16. juli 1888 i Horplinge, Sverige, norsk statsborger fra 1921, s. av Bengt Johan Olsson, f. 1842, og Anna Severina, f. 1843, begge i Sverige. Styrmannsskole, skipsførereksamen. Gift i Oslo 1917 med Ruth Dagny Jensen, f. 1893 i Oslo. Seilte under forrige verdenskrig mellom Frankrike, England og Amerika og på Murmansk uten uhell. Var fra 1940 1. styrmann på d/s Vespasian. Båten gikk i konvoi fra Oban 21. januar 1941 på vei til Mackenzie, men falt ut av konvoien natten etter og forsvant sporløst.
