Omkom da D/S FANEFJELD forsvant på reise mellom to havner på Island den 8.april 1942.
En av manskapet ble senere funnet død i en livbøye.
Skipet ble sansynligvis torpedert den 9.april 1942 kl. 10.04 av tysk Ubåt U-252 ( Kapitänleutnant Kai Lerchen )
