Orseth påmønstret M/T FINNANGER som 2. maskinist den 3. oktober 1941 i Mobile, USA. På vei i konvoi til Curacao i Karibien, så ble konvoien angrepet. Skipet mistet kontakt med resten av konvoien, og det antas at skipet ble torpedert og senket 1. mars 1942 av tysk ubåt. Det var ingen overlevende.
