M/T Sandefjord ble kapret av det tyske Admiral Scheer 18. januar 1941 på reise fra Cape Town til Freetown. Ble av tysk prisemannskap seilt til Frankrike der skipet ankom Gironde 27. februar 1941. Mannskapet ble repatriert til Norge. Han fikk fangenskapslønn fra 19. mars til og med 3. juli 1941.
