Reiste ut første turen i april 1933, som dekksgutt på D/S "LILLEMOR" av Farsund. Seilte siden med D/S "VEST" helt fram til juli 1939. I Februar 1940 reiste han ut med nybygget M/T "ANDREA BRØVIG" og stod ombord til juni 1941. I Oktober 1943 finner vi han ombord i Tvedestrands skipet "ELISE" og i august 1944 mønstret han ombord i M/T "GARONNE". Sistnevnte skip blir han ombord i til mai dagene 1945. Så seiler han med Oslo skipet D/S "ASKEPOT" og Tønsberg skipet M/T "SOLSTEN" som han kommer hjem med i januar 1946.
