KNUDSEN, KARL EMIL, kystlos, Hisøy. Født 24. mars 1881 i Arendal, s. av Peter Knudsen, f. i Hidra, og Marie f. Karlsen, f. 1853 i Høvåg. Gift 1906 i Hisøy med Gunhild Katrine Vebenstad, f. 1878 i Hisøy. 2 barn. Styrmannseksamen, kystloseksamen. Var under krigen kystlos på d/s Tromøsund som ble kapret i Rekefjord 28. februar 1943 av en sabotasjegruppe, og satte kursen for England. Dagen etter ble skipet bombet i senk av tyske fly, og alle ombord omkom.
