Seilte som stuert i alliert fart og med flere skip til han ble syk av tuberkulose i slutten av 1943.
Avmønstret ca 7.februar 1944 og innlagt på US Marine Hospital,Savannah, Georgia.Overflyttet
til Gabriels Sanatorium i nærheten av Saranac Lake i staten New York. Døde den 13.september
1945 og gravlagt på Pine Ridge Cemetary i Saranac Lake på egen gravsted sammen med 15 andre
nordmenn.
