Var ombord på D/S INNVIKEN som ble angrepet av fly i Østen. Fikk sjokk og lå på hospital i Calcutta mens båten lå der. Da skipet skulle seile til Hongkong, gikk han igjen ombord selv om han ennå ikke var frisk. Peder Kristoffer Alvær døde 4 dager etter, den 21. januar 1941, og ble senket i havet.
