Han hadde skoleskipskurs. Mønstret av M/S JAMAICA i Antwerpen 24. januar 1940 og reiste hjem som passasjer med D/S BIARRITZ. Omkom 25. januar s. å. da skipet sank 35. n. mil vest for Ymuiden etter en eksplosjon som antagelig skyldtes en mine.
