22.11.1900. Styrmanns sertifikat 17.03.1906. Skipsfører sertifikat 18.05.1910.
Var under 2.verdenskrig skipsfører på motorskip VIVA da denne ble torpedert 9.februar 1944 av tysk ubåt U-188 ca.200 nautiske mil øst for Sokotra i det Arabiske Hav. Hele besetningen kom fra
borde i livbåtene og ble etter 2 døgn tatt opp av engelsk dampskip MARWARRI og 3 dager
senere landsatt i Aden.
Andersen mønstret senere på dampskip OLE BULL i New York 09.11.1944 og førte dette skipet til han mønstret av 21.06.1945.
