Yrke: Sjømann.
Fartstid ca. 10 år.
Ved krigens begynnelse i 1940 var han ombord i M/S BJØRNHAUG av Oslo som forliste på skottlandskysten med stykkgods fra København og ble vrak. Senere var han ombord i D/S FRANK SEAMANS til skipet ble torpedert 7.mai 1942 underveis fra Paramaribo til Trinidad. Alle reddet.
Etter dette meldte han seg til marinen.
Antatt i marinen og ble utdannet til skytter i Camp Norway, Lunenburg, Canada.
Senere gjorde han tjeneste som skytter på følgende norske handelsskip:
