Far var på hvalfangst med fartøyer fra Chr. Salvesen & Co. Leith. UK før og etter krigen frem til sesongen 1962 - 1963. Han hadde også noen overvintringer på "Øya" (Sør Georgia). Fikk bl.a. to glimt av han på dokumentaren med samme navn på NRK TV.
