Var på Svalbard og ble med over til England under evakueringen i august 1941. Ble antatt i Marinen 18.9.1941 og utdannet til skytter i Dumbarton. Siden seilte han med:
M/T NUEVA ANDALUCIA fra 11.12.1941 til skipet grunnstøtte ved innseilingen til Halifax 28.03.1942 og ble kondemnert.
Han var siden om bord i:
M/S BISCAYA en dag, men ble umiddelbart overflyttet til
M/S KARMT hvor han var fra 2.4.1942 til 22.11.1942
M/S HØEGH SILVERSTAR fra 9.12.1942 til 2.12.1943
D/S AUN fra 2.12.1943 til 23.4.1944
M/S TAI PING YANG fra 6.6.1944 til 26.11.1945.
Han er innehaver av Krigsmedaljen, Deltakermedaljen og Haakon den VIIs 70-årsmedalje.
