Tjenestegjorde under krigen i handelsmarinen som pumpemann på motortank JOHN P PEDERSEN
og omkom 20.mai 1941 da skipet ble torpedert ca. 150 nautiske mil sør for Grønland, på vei fra
Halifax til Clyde. Skipet ble torpedert av tysk ubåt U-94. 22 mann ut av en besetning på 38 omkom.
