Som sjømann skrev han fra begynnelsen av 1930-tallet mange noveller i bladene Skip O´hoi, alle Menn og Vi menn.
Han ble ikke utsatt for krigsforlis under krigen, men han hadde en skade i armen etter et angrep av et japansk fly.
I 1946 tok han skipperskolen og var skipper på forskjellige båter til han fikk krigspensjon. Han fikk 100% krigspensjon i 1969 eller 1970. Han skrev fem bøker på fem år. Han følte det var god terapi. Så fikk han brev fra Rikstrygdeverket med beskjed om at de ville ta fra ham krigspensjonen hvis han fortsatte å skrive. Han skrev aldri en linje etter dette.

Going through new source material in order to document the war sailors and their history is an ongoing and extensive effort, and there exist no complete register over decorations awarded. Infomation about medals will therefore be registered gradually and be based on different source materials. The war sailors were awarded medals both during and after the war.
