17.3.1942 ankom UK. fra Norge som flyktning og meldte seg frivillig til tjeneste.
Fra 23.4.1942 arbeidet han ved den norske marines motorverksted i Buckie, UK og annet arbeide for norske interesser, inntil han ble beordret til tjeneste i den norske handelsflåte.

Reiste hjem til Norge fra Newcastle med M/S ASTREA den 5.2.1946.
