Fra NORGES SKIPSFØRERE 1935 - 1953 har vi tatt med følgende skrevet av Josef Jensen:
Som styrmann på Fullrigger "GANTOCK ROCK" hadde vi en reise på 149 dage fra vestkysten av Australia
til Liverpool. Smalhans med kosten på reisen, men alle sammen var noenlunde friske ved
ankomsten. (Ombord fra 19.9.1913 til 12.8.1914.)
Under siste krig da jeg var ombord i m.s."HAV", var vi utsatt for bombeangrep vestenfor Kreta. Skipet var atskillig skadet. Den 13.mai 1942 gikk skipet på en mine i kanalen ut fra Port Said.
Minen traff i maskinrommet. Ved hjelp av to minesveipere ble skipet satt på sandbanken utenfor Port Said. Siden oppsto brann og skipet ble kondemnert. Ved minesprengningen mistet vi 2 mann, og en del ble lettere såret.
Under resten av krigen arbeidet jeg på Nortraship og var midlertidig fører av m.t. "GEISHA",
m.s. "KRONPRINSESSEN", d.s. "CRAWFORD ELLIS" og m.s."MARGRETHE BAKKE".
Fra 1946 ført skip for Helmer Staubo & Co.
Krigsmedaljen - Gift. 5 barn.
