2.verdenskrig: Torpedert og senket 21/12 1939 av den tyske ubåten U - 46 ( Korvettenkapitän Herbert E Solher ) posisjon 58 07 N, 1 32 E på reise fra Gøteborg til U.K. i ballast.
6 overlevende ble tatt ombord i d.s. BIARRITZ etter å ha seilt 150 n.m. i en livbåt. De ble landsatt i Antwerpen. I boka Skip og menn av Birger Dannevig er det nevnt at 9 overlevende fra
d.s. RUDOLF ble tatt opp av d.s. BJERKA. Det er uklart om det var noen omkomne.
