17. juni 1940 til 17. juli 1941, på diverse britiske fartøyer.
18. juli 1941 til 21. aug. 1945, i Sjøforsvaret.
Andersen skriver følgende i sin søknad om Ex gratia-utbetaling: "I tiden 17.06.1940 til 17.07.1941 var jeg i Nortraships tjeneste. Vi ble beordret til å hente hvalbåter fra div havner. Som mannskap på disse ble vi fraktet på britiske marinefartøyer frem til hentehavn. Hvalbåtene ble ombygd til minesveipere. Samtlige av disse mannskaper var sivile".
Ifølge Londonkort var Andersen "1940 omb. A.N.5, for turen fra Walvis Bay til Colombo".
