Ved avmønstringen i Newcastle 21.1.1942 hadde han hatt sammenhengende tjeneste til sjøs siden 13.12.1935. Han fortsatte i Nortraship med tjeneste i land som "Super engineer", i Greenock, fra 12.2.42 til 15.9.45. Reiste fra Newcastle til Norge med LYRA 17.9.1945.
Ved innsending av kravskjema i 1972 hadde han og ektefellen adresse i København. Hans sønn Harry Arendal er registrert i krigsseilerregisteret.
