PEDERSEN, JOHAN MANFRED, BORØYA, DYPVÅG.
Født 30.nov. 1903 på Borøya. Til sjøs 1918 med d.s. "OTTA" (5200) av Bergen, tilh. Lorentz W. Hansen. Styrmannseksamen 1922 i Tønsberg og skipsførereksamen 1929 i Kristiansand. Styrm. med s.s. "SKOGHEIM", s.s. "HAUGLAND" og m.t. "SLEMDAL". Ble i 1936 fører av m.t. "SLEMDAL" (10500) av Oslo, tilh. Moltzau & Christensen. Har senere vært fører av m.s. "KONG SVERRE" (1030), tilh. Nortraship, London, m.t. "MARIDAL", m.s. "PRINSDAL" (3030), m.s. "GLOMDAL" (3000) alle av Oslo, tilh. Moltzau & Christensen. Fører nå m.t. "ORKDAL" (12300) av Oslo, tilh. s. n. redere. - Endel krigsmedaljer. - Gift. 1 barn.
Ble torpedert i juni 1943 med m.t. "SLEMDAL"
Var med på invasjonen i Nord-Afrika i nov. 1942, og senere Italia. Seilte under hele krigen.
2.Verdenskrig: Johan Manfred Pedersen var skipsfører på m.t. "SLEMDAL" da dette skipet 15.06.1942 ble torpedert og senket av tysk ubåt U 552 (Fregattenkapitän Erich Topp)
i posisjon 43 18 N 17 38 W i Atlanterhavet. 17 overlevende ble plukket opp britiske "COPLAND" - 20 overlevende ble plukket opp av HMS Marigold (K87)
Mannskapet ble landsatt i Gourrock den 20.juni 1942. Hele besetningen reddet.
