Magnar Stiansen seilte i utenriks under hele 2.verdenskrig.
I 1941 var han ombord i M/T PAN NORWAY da dette skipet 26.januar 1941 ble senket av
kanonild fra tysk ubåt, U-123) (Hardegen) i posisjon 35 56 N 50 27 W. Hele besetningen på 40 ble reddet av gresk skip MOUNT AETNA som gikk under sveitsisk flag. Les hele den
