50 måneders fartstid.
Han meldte seg til marinen og gjorde først tjeneste ombord på H NOR MS KNM HEIMDAL, hvor han ble utdannet til skytter og utlånt til handelsflåten for å dekke skytterbehovet i begynnelsen av krigen.
Senere gjorde han tjeneste som skytter på følgende norske handelsskip:
M/S VINNI fra 23.5.1941 til 31.10.1941.
M/S BORGHOLM fra 24.11.1941 til 18.4.1942.
M/T NORDLAND fra 30.4.1942 til skipet ble torpedert kl. 1257 den 20.mai 1942.
M/S TROPIC STAR fra 15.6.1942 til 16.11.1942.
D/S BISCAYA fra 11.1.1943 til 24.7.1943.
M/S VINLAND fra 2.9.1943 til 8.12.1943.
D/S RAVNEFJELL fra 5.2.1944 til 25.7.1944.
M/T SOLITAIRE fra 28.8.1944 til 19.3.1945.
M/T HILDA KNUDSEN fra 13.4.1945 til 27.9.1945
For sin innsats for Norge under den annen verdenskrig ble han ble tildelt Krigsmedaljen, Deltakermedaljen og Haakon den VII`s 70 års medalje.
