Nortrashipflåtens Skyttere 1941 til 1946:
Skytter nr. 415: Thorsen, Guttorm. Født 4. oktober 1919 i Ålesund.
Antatt i marinen og ble utdannet til skytter i Dumbarton, Scotland.
Senere gjorde han tjeneste som skytter på følgende norske handelsskip:
M/S GAUSDAL fra 24.02.1942 il 20.3.1942.
M/S PLESANTVILLE fra 12.5.1942 til 4.8.1942.
M/S STIGSTAD fra 24.9.1942 til skipet ble torpedert i Atlaterhavet den 21.februar 1943, på reise fra Manchester til New York. Tre mann omkom. Etter krigsforliset var det bare en brukbar livbåt igjen, og i denne satt de 34 overlevende kurs for Irland. I denne livbåten , med bare 8' fribord, seilte de ca.700 n.mil på 14.døgn før de kom i havn. Etter denne seilasen var han ombord i:
M/S ELG fra 6. 10.1943 til 12.7.1945.
M/S HØEGH SILVERCLOUD fra 23.8.1945 til 14.1.1946.
